Grand Teton Council

Nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountain Wild West, the Grand Teton Council of Scouting America serves youth across eastern Idaho, western Wyoming, and southwestern Montana. Headquartered in Idaho Falls, with an additional executive office in Pocatello, the council delivers dynamic Scouting programs that inspire adventure and build character.

From the rugged peaks of the Teton Range to the winding Snake River, Scouts experience the wild beauty of our intermountain region while camping under starlit skies, whitewater rafting, and leadership training opportunities at camps like Island Park Scout Camp.

With a dedicated corps of volunteers, the Grand Teton Council is shaping the next generation of resilient trailblazers in America’s untamed West.

Scouting America

Scouting America is one of the largest youth organizations in the U.S., with almost one million youth members and half a million adult volunteers. Founded in 1910, it has impacted over 110 million Americans. As part of the international Scout Movement, Scouting America became a founding member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1922.

Scouting America trains youth in responsible citizenship, character development, and self-reliance through outdoor activities, educational programs, and career-oriented opportunities in partnership with community organizations. Younger members develop Scouting values like trustworthiness and outdoor skills through activities such as camping, aquatics, and hiking.

To support outdoor adventures, Scouting America operates four high-adventure bases: Northern Tier (MN, MB, ON), Philmont Scout Ranch (NM), Sea Base (FL), and Summit Bechtel Reserve (WV).

Scouting America’s traditional programs include Cub Scouting (grades K-5), Scouts BSA (ages 11-17), and Venturing & Sea Scouting (ages 14-20). Scouting America partners with local organizations to charter units, led by volunteers and supported by local councils.
