WHAT IS SCOUTING?

Scouting is a dynamic, hands-on program designed to help young people grow into confident, capable leaders. Through outdoor adventure, service, and teamwork, participants develop strong character, a sense of citizenship, personal fitness, and lifelong leadership skills.

SERVING OUR REGION

The Grand Teton Council supports Scouting across eastern Idaho, western Wyoming, and southwest Montana. Local programs are organized into districts, which help bring Scouting opportunities to communities throughout the region.

HOW SCOUTING WORKS

Scouting happens in local units where youth build friendships, learn new skills, and take on leadership roles:

• Cub Scout Packs (younger youth)
• Scouting Troops (older youth)
• Venturing Crews & Sea Ships (co-ed, high adventure and leadership-focused)
• Explorer Clubs & Posts (career focused programs)

Each unit is led by trained, registered adult volunteers and supported by a committee of parents and community members who help organize meetings, outings, and special events.

A SAFE, SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT

Safety is at the heart of everything we do. All adult volunteers complete required Safeguarding Youth Training, which includes clear guidelines such as:

• No one-on-one contact between adults and youth
• Two-deep leadership at all activities
• The buddy system for participants
• The “rule of three” to ensure appropriate supervision at all times

TRAINING & SUPPORTT

Leaders have access to both online and in-person training to help them deliver a fun, engaging, and safe experience for every participant.
